Recently, the China Green City Research Institute of Beijing Forestry University issued a report on the evaluation of green city construction in 2023, and Huangshan City ranked in the top ten for four consecutive years.
According to the information, Huangshan City has a forest coverage rate of 82.9 %, forest area of 11.11 million mu(a Chinese unit of land measurement, 1mu=0.0667 hectares), and a living wood growing stock of 44.9 million cubic meters. The three indicators are all among the highest in the province. The city’s air quality ranks first in the province and among the highest in the country. In 2023, it was awarded as one of the China’s ten beautiful cities, an excellent city of national low-carbon city pilots, and a nationally designated eco-demonstration region. Huangshan Scenic Area successfully created the country’s first mountain-type zero-carbon scenic spot and was selected as the IUCN world’s best natural protection site.
