Qimen An Tea revives century-old bond with Macao at intl tea carnival
The 2025 International Tea Culture Carnival in Macao took place on May 21, with Qimen's Xiangyuan Tea Company bringing Qimen An Tea back to the century-old trading hub.
The carnival reaffirmed tea's role in fostering cross-border dialogue, as every cup carries history, health, and the promise of shared prosperity.
Hosted at the UNESCO-listed Mandarin's House, the event showcased An Tea's traditional craftsmanship through tastings and forums. Tea Master Xu Qian demonstrated its unique post-fermentation process, while three exclusive aged variants - "Lotus Rain" (5-year), "Harbor Aroma" (10-year), and "Golden Lotus" (25-year) – were displayed.
Known as "fishermen's tea" for its health benefits, this tea once nourished Macao's boat communities. During the event, elderly attendees recognized flavors from their childhoods, showing tea's power to transcend time.
Following successful tours to Hong Kong and Malaysia, Xiangyuan plans to expand to Southeast Asia and Europe through Macao's multicultural platform. This cultural homecoming not only rekindles regional ties but positions An Tea as a new ambassador of Chinese wellness traditions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
