On May 24, 2025, the "72-Hour Huizhou Adventure" opened in Shanghai, drawing over 10,000 attendees, including more than 40 percent international students. Under the theme "NIHAO! Ancient Huizhou's Scenic Wonders", the event displayed Huangshan's cultural heritage through interactive experiences, captivating a global audience.
Visitors explored intangible cultural heritage exhibits at the Huangshan cultural tourism zone, from Huizhou inkstick calligraphy to delicate fish lantern crafts. Bilingual guides and hands-on activities, like writing postcards with traditional ink, deepened cross-cultural connections. The aroma of Qimen black tea and crispy Huangshan sesame cakes further enriched the sensory journey.
As evening approached, Huizhou opera performers dazzled the crowd, followed by a vibrant fish lantern parade that that generated much attention on social media platforms. Huangshan's tourism ambassadors extended warm invitations, highlighting policies such as the 144-hour visa-free transit, direct flight options, and discounted tickets, all aimed at attracting international travelers.
"This event brought Huizhou culture to life," said a New York University Shanghai student. With the first quarter of 2025 seeing an 83.16 percent surge in foreign visitors, the "72-Hour Adventure" has fueled Huangshan's ambition to become a "global cultural hub", blending tradition with modernity.
