On Aug 27, the 2025 Anhui Culture and Tourism Promotion Program was opened in Kathmandu, Nepal. Government representatives, tourism experts, scholars, and media from both countries gathered for a dialogue that bridged landscapes and cultures.

Though separated by the Himalayas, Anhui and Nepal share a deep affinity. Historically, Anhui's tea traveled south along the ancient Silk Road trade routes, reaching Nepal as a symbol of commercial and cultural exchange.

"Their taste is Anhui's calling card to the world," said Zhou Mingjie, director of Anhui Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

But the connection between the two places extends beyond trade. Mount Huangshan is famed for its five wonders – fantastic pines, grotesque rocks, seas of clouds, hot springs, and winter snow – while Pokhara's Fishtail Mountain (Machapuchare) and Phewa Lake attract travelers from across the globe. Both regions emphasize eco-tourism, aligning their sustainable development visions.

Cultural ties run deep as well. Anhui's Mount Jiuhua, one of China's four sacred Buddhist mountains, resonates with Nepal's Lumbini, birthplace of the Buddha. Buddhism, a timeless treasure of Eastern civilization, serves as a meaningful bridge between the two places.

From tea to mountains, from spiritual heritage to sustainability, Anhui and Nepal are building a dialogue that bridges friendship across the Himalayas.
